Accounts from the Front, 1917 is an exhibition of letters and memoirs written in 1917 by members of the Albert Park and South Melbourne Rowing Clubs who enlisted during World War One. The exhibition explores who these members were, what they experienced and how their absence affected the club.
Researched and curated entirely by Grace, Accounts from the Front brings together information and photographs from club records, the Australian War Memorial, Trove, as well as personnel dossiers from the National Archives of Australia. Conducted primarily through online research, Grace has utilised the National Library of Australia’s Trove website as well as the AIF Project to bring this exhibition together.
This project has been supported by the City of Port Phillip through the Cultural Development Fund, the Victorian Government and the Victorian Veterans Council. The exhibition is held in conjunction with the Albert Park Lake Masters Regatta and the National Trust of Australia’s Australian Heritage Festival.
